Good morning, good afternoon and good evening readers,
So my faithful companions, that title of this blog entry is Armenian for “I speak English”. How do I know this you may ask? Charlotte must be a linguistic genius!
..
Alas, I am not. Google Translate helped me with that saucy number.
I have discovered that sitting in a meeting room whilst everyone speaks Armenian is very frustrating. I have also discovered that the simple things I enjoy doing in life, such as going to a coffee shop on my own, are challenging to say the least. I feel so competent and independent in my daily life, yet here I do not because of the language barrier. I feel like Antonio Banderas at the beginning of The Thirteenth Warrior. You know the part where all the Vikings are speaking Nordic and then the actors switch from Nordic to English. This is supposed to show that he now understands the language. Well, I am yet to receive my transition in language.
I have also been trying to say “gangarem gagarnek” on the bus for several days now.. still nothing.
I feel like I am losing who I am, right there inside.
I suppose there is a lesson to learn from this. Charlotte you must learn to ask people for help and support. You must communicate with others when you need help.
Clean up on aisle four please.
In kindness,
C x
