Good morning, good afternoon and good evening readers,
Here is an amusing bite size piece from the thing that is my hilarious life. So, today I got on the bus and went to sit in the front seat. On the buses here you have to step over this raised block with a carpet on it. Usually, you can step along side in a small galley which is about as wide as an A4 sheet of paper. Now the plot thickens.. there is a large water bottle lodged down the side. What must one do in this situation!? I step on the block and go to walk over it, the following dance takes place.
The bus driver puts his arm out and says something (I have absolutely not the foggiest idea what he said).
I think to myself, okay not the right thing to do, so then I sit on the block.
Okay, he is still talking to me, that must not be right either. I stand up.
He puts his arm out again…
AH, he is helping me step over the block. This isn’t the usual etiquette, they usually buy me a drink first. I’m letting this random bus driver help me to my seat. This is magical. I think we just became best friends. What a lovely man.
Ten minutes into the bus journey..
*Bus driver speaks to me in Armenian and points at the window* We do a second dance of the following routine:
I close the window. Okay, that isn’t right again. Read the body language Charlotte, for goodness sake.
I open the window. Still not right.
I close the window half way. Nope. Not it.
We do this dance about five times. I’m thinking honestly mate, there isn’t much more I can do with this window.
He starts to laugh, I laugh and he just said OK.
*Pulling up to our stop*
I say “Gangarem Gagarnek, Yerkou Hat” (Please stop here, two tickets)
I wish I had taken a picture of that bus drivers face. He didn’t know what was going on! Is she Armenian? Is she English? Is she mute? Is she a wind up merchant? Welcome to my world friend! What a laugh I’m having out here.
My Reward from the Universe
Amy and I are walking across the road talking. An old man is staring at us. Classic.
Old man – “Are you English?”
Us – “Yes, we are”
Old man – “I have been there five times, to Barnmuth”.
Us – “Bournemouth, oh wow that’s cool. It’s nice to meet you”.
Old man – “I live just over there in those flats, second floor. If you ever need anything at all you come to me and shout my name loudly”.
Lesson: When life brings you challenging situations, it is its way of telling you that it is time to grow. When you do grow, the universe will help you along the way and reward you with the things that you need.
In kindness,
C x
