Good morning, good afternoon and good evening readers,
“GANGAREM GAGARNEK” I cry as we pass the swirly brick wall on our way to the office. This is how we know it is our stop. Amy looks at me in awe as if to say.. OMG you are lit so Armenian right now.
We have literally laughed about my morning bus battle cry so many times. I had kept that word in for so long as I had been too scared to say it and this morning I chanted it will all the passion of England. This incident set the tone for the rest of the day and what a delightful day it has been.
After leaving the office, we headed over to the Cascade for dinner. Over salad and Sangria we chatted about random things and go to know more about each other. The bars here are “Oh so chic”, as are the people inside them. Although, the smoking indoors takes some getting used to. After dinner, we made our way to Republic Square to watch the dancing fountains (see above picture). Let me tell you, what a performance. Spouting cannons of water, bright lights and streams of water twirling in mid air, all to the tune of Cotton Eye Joe. What an absolute belter! Halfway through the water extraordinaire one of the volunteers got up and started dancing, then another, then Amy and then next thing there I am as well. All of us are waving our arms and legs in choreographed motions. A few other random people joined in with the routine also. What an absolute HOOT!
A volunteer and his cousin surprised everyone with ice creams and we watched the fountains a little longer.
Every day that I am here, I am surprised and blessed by the kindness of these people. They have put in so much effort to make sure that we are okay and have made us feel so settled. As I sat watching those fountains and eating my ice cream, I realised how truly blessed I am.
In kindness,
C x
