08 July – Ain’t No Mountain High Enough

Good morning, good afternoon and good evening readers,

I mean, of course there is a mountain high enough. Perhaps Everest. But yesterday I climbed some of Mount Aragats and made it to the top yo! We climbed with Armenian Geographic and a ruddy good time was had by all. I fell asleep on the drive there, so when I heard everyone introducing themselves on the bus, I just continued to “be asleep”. I use that trick quite a lot in my life.

I was ill prepared to say the least. You know, when someone says “Wanna climb a mountain?” and you say “Ch’yeah why not”, you don’t really take the situation seriously. I’d had about four hours sleep, had some potato wraps to feed myself on the journey and oh yeah, I am also extremely unfit LOL. But despite all the setbacks, I walked 26,860 steps, 12 miles and 700m up the mountain. That’s just halfway up Ben Nevis, so I’ll take that. I did use quite a few expletives phrases of “Shittin’ hell, Fuck me and Holy shit”. But whatever gets you through the day right? One of the perks at the peak was that it was COLD. BLISSFULLY COLD with no sign of the 40-degree heat back in the city. I wonder if the office would let us work remotely. They have Wi-Fi on the mountain. Yes you read that right. Amy and I logged into “Aragats Wi-Fi”.

So, by 15:30 I’d gone up the mountain, down the mountain and was back to the blasting heat of Yerevan. Isn’t it funny that some days you can’t even get out of bed by 3pm and others you can climb a frickin’ mountain! Have a look at these splendid piccies I took along the way.

In kindness,
C x
