21st & 22nd November – Ask and You Shall Receive

Good morning, good afternoon and good evening readers,

As explained before, I was feeling quite alone and shellshocked by the task at hand. The night after the show I was really struggling to get to sleep and there was a huge thunderstorm, which was wicked! During the thunderstorm I asked the universe to help me find the strength within myself to push through the loneliness. As the title of this post states, ask and you shall receive.

The next morning it was still hammering it down as I got on the bus to go to the backwaters. I sat at the front and this Canadian guy named Jerry sits next to me. Straight away he is introducing himself and we are chatting away. Soon after, an English couple behind us join in on the conversation. Shan and Will have been travelling for a year together and visited some incredible places. We all have a chin wag throughout the day and enjoy a boat ride on the calming backwaters. The tour guide was hilarious. I have no idea what he was saying but he waggled his head away and had the enthusiasm of a pirate at sea. We have a decent vegetarian lunch on the riverside. I notice a few of the guys are eating purely with their hands. I’m sat there of course, all proper, using a spoon.

When we arrive back to Kochi we have some coffee and Jerry invites us on a road trip to Munnar. We are all 100% in because why the hell not!?

So, the next morning at 8am we pack ourselves into a car and head for the hills. The busy areas are so interesting to drive through. The motors are awesome here and have big colourful, carnivalesque paintings on them. On the way up the hills we see some waterfalls, A MONKEY and beautiful tea plantations. The driver was so non chalant about the huge waterfalls. He was all like “waterfall there”. There were these incredibly purple flowers that bloom once every 12 years, and guess what? This is the 12th year! Get in. On the way back down I was telling the others how if we’d have come at 11am we would have seen elephants crossing the water. Then just as we turn the corner… wild elephants! The driver stops the car AND THERE ARE WILD ELEPHANTS ON THE HILLSIDE. That was so sick. It was one of those moments where you just think… wow. We were some lucky kids to be that close to wild elephants, lemme tell ya.

Now I’m sat in my hotel room and reliving all of these wonderful events of the last two days. I realise how lucky I am to have made three new travelling friends, seen monkeys and elephants and gone on a road trip to the hills. I haven’t even been here a full week yet. I asked the universe to help me find the strength to overcome loneliness and that it did. Signed, sealed, delivered first class to my Indian doorstep.

In gratitude to the universe,

C x
